Line I Love: Maison Michel

I've really been loving the look of hats lately.  Not only can they add extra polish to an outfit, but they are great for covering up a bad hair day or keeping your head warm on a chilly day.  A hat line I am especially loving is Maison Michel.  The French label, which was founded in 1936, is now owned by Chanel makes headgear from hats to veils and headbands.  While the average price for a Maison Michel hat is usually around $400, the design, fit and quality are well worth the price.

Obsession of the Week: Elizabeth and James Leather Backpack

I have to admit, I've never been a fan of the backpack purse.  That is until I laid eyes on this leather sling backpack from Elizabeth and James.  Between the textured leather, zipper detail, thin straps, and bucket shape, I think it's time to branch out and purchase a backpack.

Obsession of the Week: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

I was recently given a sample of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 to try and it is now my favorite product!  This moisturizer feels so silky when applying and not only gives my overly dry skin the much craved moisture it needs, but leaves my skin glowing with just a tint of color.  It allots the perfect coverage for those days I don't feel like spending time on my makeup, but also acts as a great primer when used under foundation for a more done up look.  This is now my new "can't live without product"...well... that and mascara!

Cozy Ski Weekend

This is an outfit I wore this past weekend while up in Killington, Vt skiing with my family.  As ski resorts in New England tend to be very casual my goal for dressing this weekend, while off the slopes, was to be as comfortable and warm as possible.  Especially because it was only 4 degrees when we arrived!  (It did however warm up on Saturday).  I've been living in this over sized sweater by Tobey Grey and paired with these Paige Denim sweatpants (also seen here) I was beyond comfortable.  For extra warmth I added this chunky Paula Bianco scarf and my fingerless mittens (also seen here).

Sweater: Tobey Grey
Pants: Paige Denim (old)
Scarf: Paula Bianco (here)

Boots: H&M (on sale here)

Monday's Inspiration

I'm loving this look from Burberry Pre-Fall 2014.  I love the idea of a graphic tee with a textured pencil skirt.   It dresses down a pencil skirt making it more wearable on a daily basis.  I will definitely be trying this look soon.

Ski Weekend Essentials: Off the Slopes

Ski Weekend Essentials: Off the Slopes

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope you all have fun plans for the weekend, or get to relax!  I am spending this weekend in Killington, VT  with my family.  I love to ski, but spending the weekend at a ski resort can be fun whether you hit the slopes or not.  There is always plenty to do whether it's snowshoeing, heading to a spa or hitting the bars.  In case anyone is planning a ski weekend this winter, I thought I'd share some essentials to pack for when you're not on the slopes.

*A chunky knit scarf to keep you warm,  I especially love this one from Paula Bianco

*A fun wool sweater with a french saying like this one by Bella Freud

*A beanie is a must have.  Love this fleece lined one from Plush

*A fun pair of mittens.  I love how these Jocelyn Mandy Rabbit Fingerless Mittens complete your outfit  whether wearing inside or outside

*A cozy pair of leggings.  These fleece lined leggings from Plush add an extra bit of warmth

*An over sized sweater to wear with the leggings.  Love this one one sale from Zara

*A pair of boots that are warm and keep you dry in the snow, like this pair from Sorel

Dreaming of... Celine

Dreaming I could be snuggling in this Celine chunky knit sweater from the Winter 2013 collection.  I can't get enough of the bell sleeves adding a dramatic touch to an otherwise simple and cozy sweater.

However, I did find this sweater from Zara and between the cream color and semi bell sleeves I decided this one could be just a cozy .  Although it isn't the Celine sweater, ordering it online did brighten up my Monday morning!

Obsession of the Week: Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall

AM-AZ-ING! When I first saw these shoes on @oscarprgirl Instagram page three weeks ago, I fell in love and I haven't been able to get them out of my mind.  I know Pre-Fall seems so far away, but it just shows good things are coming in 2014!

Happy New Year/ Reflections of 2013

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope everyone had a fun New Years Eve.  I had a very low key night and rung in the new year having dinner with my love, my sister and best friend.  Because we chose a quiet dinner and it was freezing out, I decided to ditch the sequin dress I had initially planned on wearing and went with J Brand black skinny jeans and this Parker Sequin tank.  Since I am always cold, I threw on a blazer and added a little more sparkle to my outfit by wearing these earrings I recently purchased from Bauble Bar.

Reflecting back on 2013, I have to share that I've never been happier to have a year come to an end.  Last year was the hardest year I have experienced in my 33 years as it was the saddest and most frusterating time in my life.  They say things happen in threes but it seemed like the bad news just wouldn't stop.  I won't get into all the challenges I faced over the year but I will share the one that impacted my life the most, which was the passing of my father.  His life was taken suddenly last Febraury at age 59 and I still can't come to reality that he is actually gone.  Not only am I struggling with the sadness of never seeing my father again or getting the chance to tell him that I love him just one last time, but I am also struggling with the fact that he was gone so suddenly which makes me angry.  I haven't figured out who I'm angry at: God?  My Dad?  Myself? But that anger is there and it makes his death that much harder to understand and accept.  But trying my best to move on and reflecting on this experience, it made me realize that life is short and you should spend those days trying to do what you love.  Which is why I started this blog last June.  Fashion was constantly fulfilling my pastime, whether I was shopping, browsing online drooling over clothes I can only dream of someday wearing, reading magazines, or reading fashion blogs.  That is why I decided to start my own fashion blog.  It's not only an outlet for me to be creative and to challenge myself but also to share my love of fashion with my friends and readers and hopefully bring inspiration to your lives.

I know this past month I was absent from blogging which I want to apologize.  Between being sick, having my computer break down, and constantly being non stop with the holidays, I barely updated the blog.  I am sorry and promise this new year to not slack again.  I am very grateful for all of  my followers and those who take the time to visit my blog.  It is because of you that I get motivated and inspired to share my personal style and my love of fashion and I thank you for giving me the chance and opportunity to be creative and do something that I love and am passionate about.  I am looking forward to what 2014 has to bring and I have some exciting news to share with you all soon!

So thank you for reading and I hope you all have a happy and healthy new year and chase after your dreams.  I learned this year that life is too short so don't hold grudges, tell those who are close to you that you love them, don't take the small things for granted, and while you should dream big, do appreciate all the small things you have because you never know when they may be taken from you.

xoxo Rachael
