Life Lately

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Sorry I didn't have my normal Monday post.  This past weekend was so busy I didn't have time to work on the blog, or take any outfit photos.  We celebrated Mason and Tyler's first birthday, and had family in town for their party.  The party ended up being a blast, and we lucked out with perfect weather, which we were especially thankful for since we had planned on the majority of it being outside.  On Sunday we went the New England Aquarium.  I was excited to take Mason and Tyler there for the first time, however it was so crowded it made it hard to move around, and not very enjoyable.  Overall the trip to the aquarium was worth it because it was great to watch the boys and my niece and nephews have a blast seeing all the fish, but I definitely don't recommend going on a rainy Sunday afternoon, especially if you need a stroller!  The best part of the weekend was just being with my family.  Since they live in Vermont, I don't get to see them on a daily basis, so I love when we have time together.  Although I love blogging, I have to admit, it was nice to take a full weekend off from the blog and social media (I normally work on the blog a lot on the weekends).  It was great to just be in the present and not staring at my phone while spending time with friends and family.  Since I don't have a new outfit post to share today, I thought I'd share a few snidbits from my life lately (most images are from my Instagram),  and a few photos from the twins' party.

I've been obsessed with these Revlon lip stains.  Whenever I put lipstick or gloss on, it's usually gone within twenty minutes.  These stains actually work and stay on for hours.

We got the twins their first pair of shoes.  How cute are these Converses?  Now they match their dad.

For the past two months, I've been making detox smoothies for breakfast every morning.  This blueberry one is my favorite.

Mason and Tyler's birthday cake.  We did a Mickey Mouse theme for the party, and got their cake from White's Bakery and Cafe.  I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  They really make the best cakes in the Boston area.

Mason and Tyler eating cake for the first time.  They loved it!

Remix

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm still running around like a mad women trying to get everything done for the twins' first birthday party tomorrow.  The list never ends!  Since I've been non stop, this week has been all about comfort (okay, everyday is about comfort for me lately).  However, I still want to look put together while getting everything set for this party.  Along with my hectic schedule, it has been hot and humid, so a comfy tank dress was my go-to this week, and no one makes a comfier dress than Feel The Piece.  Their tops and dresses are always so soft, and I love how this one has the high-low hem.  It adds a little edge to the otherwise classic style, which I always look for when adding pieces to my wardrobe.  Because this is a low cut dress, and I didn't want to be flashing my girls during meetings, or to the cashiers at Costco, I added this stripe H&M crop top over the dress which gave it a skirt and top look.  I bought this top last fall, and it has been the perfect layering piece.  I love how layering a shirt or jacket over an item can instantly change it's look and make an older item feel fresh again.  Although I've worn both these pieces separately on the blog before, pairing them together felt like I had a brand new outfit.  I finished the look with my new fringe sandals from H&M, which I'm not only obsessed with, but they are actually really comfortable.  Plus they are a great alternative to the Chloé fringe sandals I've been eyeing but haven't wanted to splurge on.

Bell Sleeves and Skinny Bottoms

Happy Hump Day!  This week has already been crazy because the twins first birthday party is this Saturday, and I've been running around like a mad woman trying to get things done.  The second half of this week will be even busier, but I can't wait to have my family in town this weekend to celebrate the boys.  I still can't get over the fact that they are going to be one year old so soon (July 3rd)!

I hope you all aren't getting tired of seeing off-the-shoulder tops and white jeans!  I just can't stop with the off-the-shoulder looks, and white jeans are my favorite to wear in the summer.  They make a great alternative to denim, and I love how they can appear a little dressier than blue jeans.  I chose my white skinnies to wear with this off-the-shoulder blouse because I love how they made the blue really pop, and balanced out the top's flowiness.  For someone who doesn't normally wear a lot of color, I'm loving this purple bluish hue, and especially loving the embroidered detail on the bell sleeves.  It's colorful, with out being overwhelming (for me, ha).   I have a feeling this top will be on major repeat this summer, and can also see myself pairing it with my denim cut offs for an easy everyday look.

Taking a Summer Dress From Day to Night

There is something that is so easy about throwing on a sundress during these warmer months, and with chasing two babies around, you all know that I love easy when in comes to getting dressed.  Along with rompers, the perfect sundress is one piece that you can just through on and be done.  I've already been finding myself living in sundresses this summer, and I'm obsessed with the blue hues and tropical print of this dress I'm wearing.  I styled it with a pair of gladiator sandals, which I found at Old Navy this past weekend for $19, and a wide brim hat for perfect daytime relaxed look.

The other thing I love about sundresses, is that they can easily be dressed up with with the right accessories.  Whenever Mike and I decide to go out to dinner, I don't have a lot of time to get ready with the twins, so a simple switch of shoes and handbag will usually do the trick.  All I did to make my outfit ready for a night out was change into high heels, switched out my bag for a clutch, and added a red lip.  It took me a total of five minutes and I was ready to go!

Casual Friday in a Ruffle Tank and Denim Cut-Offs

The other day I went searching in my closet.  Not after anything in particular, but sometimes when I don't know what to wear, I just start digging though everything I own.  I'm not sure if it's because I'm hoping that a new outfit idea will pop in my head while I dig, or the fact that I'm secretly wishing that something new will miraculously appear, but I'm guessing it's probably a mix of both.  Then just like that, I found it.  Hidden among all the black tops hanging in my closet, there is was, a sleeveless ruffle hem Alisha Levine blouse with the tags still on!  I bought this top five years ago and have never worn it!  With all of the closet clean outs I have performed in the last five years, I could never part with it, because I'm truly obsessed with this top.  It took me a couple of minutes to realize why I hadn't worn it before.  It's because my husband never liked the top.  But guess what, I don't care anymore.  I love it!  How can you not love the ruffle hem and the open back?  It's girly and sexy at the same time.  I ended up wearing this top last Friday, right after finding it, and paired it with my jean shorts, favorite Sam Edelman sandals and finished my outfit with my fringe bag for a causal summer look.
