Simple in a Grey Sweater

Am I the only one who is shocked that today is the last day of September?   It's as if I blinked, and another month passed.  Before you know it, winter will be here and I haven't even been apple picking yet!  The good news is the weather has cooled off, which means I got to start wearing my favorite sweaters (except for yesterday, temps were in the 80's).  There is nothing I love more than cuddling up in a cozy sweater on a crisp fall day, and this sweater from Voom by Joy Han is a new love of mine.  Although it's classic in the front, I love that there is a little party happening in the back, with the cut out details.  It's the perfect sweater to run around in during the day, then add a pair of heels and a statement necklace and you're set to grab drinks with the girls.

In addition to wearing these boots non stop (they are so comfortable, I highly suggest them!), you may have noticed that I have been wearing a lot of Voom and Vava by Joy Han, as the brand had recently become one of my favorites.  Not only are the price point reasonable, but I love the slight boho vibe of the brand.  I feel these pieces have made my mostly classic wardrobe a little more fun.

Pop of Red

Happy Monday everyone!  It's really started to feel like fall here in in New England, and I'm loving it.  Hello, sweaters and leather jackets!  Although the days have been warm, the nights have been on the chilly side, so when I went to wear this dress this past Saturday night, I decided to layer it over a pair of pants for added warmth.  I'm actually digging the dresses over jeans/pants look and have a feeling I'll be wearing the trend a lot this winter.  Since I was in the mood to wear all black, I chose my faux leather pants to add contrast in the textures to the tonal look, then finished my outfit with red lace up flats for a pop of color.  If you haven't jumped on the lace up flat ban wagon yet, I highly suggest you do!  I love how polished these flats look for day time, but yet are fun enough to wear out at night.  Plus, this pair form Topshop (which are only $45) are super comfortable.

Faux Fur Vest

If you haven't noticed, dresses and booties have been my favorite pairing lately.  I love how it's still warm enough to run around with bare legs, yet cool enough to wear a pair of booties and not overheat.  Since the temperatures finally started to cool off this week, I was excited to pull out my faux fur vest.  An easy way to make your outfit more interesting, and add a little warmth, is by layering on a fur vest.  Although I do own this real one here, I like wearing faux fur better, especially since I have sensitive skin and real fur tends to irritate it.  I've actually owned this vest for a couple of years, and it has been the best piece to throw on when my outfit feels a little bland.  Although mine is old, I have found some great faux fur options for you, and linked them below.

Navy Blouse and Irresistible Me Curling Wand Review

I have been wearing a lot of the color blush lately, but can you blame me?  The color is beautiful and goes with everything.  I have recently paired blush with burgundy here, shades of grey here, and today I am pairing it with navy.  I'm loving the contrast between the two colors, and how the blush adds a softness to the otherwise dark outfit.  I am a little obsessed with the fit of this navy blouse, and loving the slight bell in the sleeves.  I added my blush heels and blazer to finish the look, but my favorite accessory is the beach waves in my hair.

I was recently contacted by the company, Irresistible Me, to try one of their products.  There was no way I could pass up trying their Sapphire 8 in 1 Compete Curling Wand, as I'd been wanting to purchase a curl wand for a while (the company is also well known for their real hair extensions).  I must say, I am very happy with it!  The curling wand comes with eight different interchangeable barrels, of all shapes and sizes, so you're able to achieve different curls from loose beach waves to tight ringlets.  It also comes with a heat safe glove, so there isn't any chance of burning your fingers, and all the parts are neatly tucked into an organized storage pouch, so it's easy to travel with.  The curling wand heats up in a matter of seconds, and can heat up to 450 degrees.  So far I have loved using the 25mm barrel, which makes it very easy to achieve my beach waves, but I can't wait to experiment with all the different wands.  The curling wand does come at the hefty price of $199, but between the tourmaline technology and the eight interchangeable barrels, I would say it's worth the price.  There is also a code (GET20OFF) on the Irresistible Me website to get 20% off your fist purchase!

You can see more of my review and how I get my beach waves in the video below.

I'm so excited to be sharing my first YouTube video!  I'm showing you how I get my beach waves using the Irresistible Me Sapphire 8 in 1 Curling Wand.  Please bear in mind that this is my first video, and although it's not the best YouTube video ever produced, I am proud of the fact that I made it myself.  They can only get better from here!

I wish everyone a great Wednesday!  Thank you for reading, and watching!

Dressing for Fall and Mirina Collections Necklace

There are three things in this outfit that I'm loving today.  The first is the coziness of this sweater, and how I want to keep myself wrapped up in it all fall.  Each season I like to add a new sweater to my wardrobe, and this cashmere one by Vince  has been the perfect addition.  Not only is it light enough to throw on early in the season, but it will make the perfect layering piece in the dead of winter.  I call it my Grandpa sweater. The second thing I'm loving are my new Vince Camuto booties.  I took a trip to Nordstom this past weekend, and couldn't leave without these beauties.  They remind me of the Rag and Bone ones that I've been coveting, but are a third of the price, and you can bet your little tushy, that I'll be living in them this fall.  And finally I'm absolutely in love with this Max Statement Necklace from Mirina Collections.  I only recently learned about Mirina Collections through Instagram, and have become a little obsessed with the company.   Based in Miami, their jewelry is handmade, so no two pieces are alike, and their Famous Collection necklaces are gorgeous.  I love how fun, yet classic, this necklace is, and know that it's going to be my new go-to jewelry piece.  It's the perfect item to add to your outfit whether trying to dress up an otherwise plain dress, or add some interest to jeans and a white button down.  Between these three items, I'm ready for fall!

You can get 20% off a piece from Mirina Collections by using the code: rachael20

Black Jacket, Grey Slit Dress

I know I'm not being very original by wearing this dress, as I have seen it on a couple of different bloggers, but I love it so much I had to add it to my wardrobe.  I love the longer length, slits up the legs, and above most, I love the cut out details at the midriff.  It's like they were strategically placed for my body and hit me in the most flattering place: low enough to cover the girls, and high enough to hide the post baby fat.  I know the dress is a little on the summery side, but just add a leather jacket and a pair of booties and you're good for the fall.  Don't be surprised if you see me wearing it this winter layered over a turtleneck and a pair of over the knee boots!

With that I would just like to mention that style bloggers are my largest inspiration when it comes to fashion.  Yes, I am reading magazines, watching celebrities, and skimming Vogue.com on a daily basis, but most of my looks are inspired by other bloggers.  I love how style bloggers bring a level of realness to outfits, and show looks that are more accessible to everyone.  And although you will see many bloggers wearing similar "it" pieces, it's how they style them and make them their own that I love watching, and is very inspiring.  I only hope to inspire you in the same way with this blog.

I can't mention enough how happy I have been with my Rocksbox subscription.  In case you're not familiar with Rocksbox, it's a monthly jewelry subscription where you can rent designer jewelry for just $19/month.  It includes brands such as Gorjana, Kendra Scott, Loren Hope, and I am obsessed with the Perry Street earrings and Sophie Harper necklace that I'm wearing in these photos.  You're box includes three pieces of jewelry for rent,  and you're able to switch them out anytime.  If you really fall in love with the jewelry, you have the option to purchase it at a discounted price.  I highly suggest signing up for Rocksbox if you're a jewelry lover, because you won't be disappointed.  You can get your first month free by using my code: thomasrachaelxoxo, and if you're unhappy with it, you can cancel any time.  But hurry, this is the last week that my code is available, so make sure to sign up by the 20th!  You can learn more about Rocksbox and read my reviews here and  here.
