Rose-Collar Blouse and Culottes

Draped in Forever 21 today.  Six months ago, I never thought I would step foot in the high street retailer, but after discovering their contemporary collection, it has become one of my go-to stores.  The key to making these pieces appear more expensive is to style them with the right accessories.  After all, would you ever believe that the price of this rose collar blouse is $22?  In fact, the only items that I'm wearing which are over $40 are my boots and bracelets!   Talk about a frugal Monday.  Wishing everyone a wonderful week.

Casual Color Blocking + Link Up

Keeping it casual and easy today with a go-to outfit that I throw on when I don't have much time to get ready (you may know this if you follow me on Snapchat: Rach480).  Unfortunately, one of the twins has been sick, and the only thing that comforts him is to be in my arms, so I haven't been able to get much done this week.  There is nothing worse than when one of your kids are sick, especially when they are unable to tell you what hurts.  So this week has been filled with one non-stop crying toddler, while trying to entertain his wild brother.  Lets just say I couldn't be happier that the weekend has arrived!

Cream and Grey

Is it Wednesday already?  I guess the week speeds by when you take Monday off, which is what I did.  I spent this past weekend in Killington, Vermont skiing with the family.  Mike and I decided to stay until Monday, and since I don't get to see my family as often as I would like, I took the weekend off from blogging.  So I apologize for not having a post on Monday, but I have to say it was a great weekend.  Although the ski conditions weren't the best, it still felt good to be out on the slopes.  These photos were actually taken on our way up to the mountain in Woodstock, VT, which is a thirty minute drive from Killington.  If you ever find yourself in Vermont, I highly suggest visiting Woodstock.  It is the prettiest town I have ever visited, no matter what season.

For my look,  I have been living in this faux fur coat from Chicwish, as it has become my favorite of the late.  I find it's the perfect piece to wear this time of year, and I love how the cream color lightens up my outfits.  You have seen me wear this coat on the blog (last seen here) as a finishing piece to my outfits, but decided it needed it's own blog post.  I paired it with my favorite grey jeans, and loved the soft feel of the cream and grey together.   Please excuse that fact that these jeans are a little baggy.  They are a little stretched out since I've been living in them lately, and think it's time to throw them in the wash.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far.  I've been behind on reading and responding to all your comments since taking the weekend off, but I love hearing from you, and will be catching up the rest of the week.  Thank you for stopping by!

Tights Under Jeans + Link Up

Happy Friday my friends!  I'm in a great mood because I'm headed to Killington, VT for a family ski weekend, and there isn't anything that makes me happier than spending the entire weekend with my family.  Speaking of cold weather places, last weekend was FREEZING here in Boston, and I'm sharing with you the outfit I wore this past Saturday.  Nothing that I am wearing is new, but I wanted to show you how to wear layers while still looking stylish.  I started with my custom made blouse, added a over-sized cashmere knit, and topped off my look with a boyfriend blazer.  Because I still wanted to wear my distressed jeans, I threw a pair of opaque tights under them so I wouldn't freeze my knees off!  This look was put together, yet warm.  I'm actually liking the look of tights under jeans, and thinking fish nets or a pattern pair would be a fun look.  Tell me, would you wear tights under your jeans?

Happy Hump Day everyone!  Today I have all things ski related on my mind, as this weekend I'll be making my first ski trip of the season.  As many of you may know from reading this blog, I am frequently traveling to Killington, Vermont, as my mom lives there, but I only make it out on the slopes about twice a year.  Because of the little amount that I actually ski, I haven't bought a new ski jacket in years, and still use my parka that I had in high school.  (Hey, it just goes to show that a classic will last you many years, plus I'm proud of the fact that it still fits!)  However, I do have an itch to update my ski wear, and am eyeing this Spyder jacket.  Whether you hit the slopes or just want to sip cocktails by the fire, a great sweater, and snow boots are essentials (you'll even be wearing your snow boots out for dinner and drinks, so no fancy heels).  Because I'm always cold, I like to layer with a soft turtleneck, and of course I don't go anywhere without a great pair of sunglasses.  Lastly, the cold weather and high altitudes don't help my already dry skin, and this Clinique Moisture Surge lotion has been a life saver.  I can't say enough good things about it!

Grey Midi Dress and Black Bomber Jacket

HOLEY MOLEY it's was freezing here this past weekend.  To make matters worse, the heat in our house stopped working several times!  I swear, this is always the kind of luck I have.  Thankfully, it was only the first floor that stopped working, so we still had some heat, and each time it was fixed quickly.  But that doesn't mean I wasn't cold!  To help keep warm I dressed in plenty of layers.  This midi tee-shirt dress is one of the softest items I own, that I layered over a white button down, thick tights, and over the knee boots.  For extra warmth, I finished my look with a quilted bomber jacket.   I love the cool girl vibe that a bomber jacket adds to an outfit, and am happy that they're back in style.   I highly suggest adding one to your wardrobe.

Zig Zag Tie Blouse + Link Up

Is there anything that says 70s more than a zig zag tie neck blouse and flared jeans?  There has been a large trend towards 70s dressing this season, and although my style tends to be on the classic side, I can't help but to add a little disco fever into my outfits.  This blouse is another great find from Chicwish, and I'm loving that the colors are dark brown and cream giving it a retro feel.  I paired it with my J Brand flares, faux fur coat, and finished my look with an orange clutch.

On a different note, happy FriYay!  Does everyone have fun plans for the weekend or Valentine's Day?  No big plans here, but my sister will be spending the night Saturday, which I'm beyond excited for!  Ever since she moved out to the lake (an hour away) we don't see each other nearly enough.  Other then that, I will be keeping up with everything New York Fashion Week related from the comfort of my couch.  Wishing everyone a happy weekend.
