Rachael's Radar: Andrew Marc Coats

*Note: this is a sponsored post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  Thank you for supporting the brands that I love here on Threads for Thomas.

It's no secret that I have an obsession with leather jackets, or for that matter, fall coats in general. I currently have ten leathers hanging in my closet, and yes, I'll probably end up adding another one to my wardrobe this fall.  The thing I love most about a great jacket, leather or not, is that it can make any outfit appear put together.  Take the suede coat above, for example (which I'm totally obsessing over) you can literally be wearing pajamas, throw that coat on top, and look well dressed.

When I'm on the hunt for a new coat, one of the first brands that I turn to is Andrew Marc.  From leathers, to furs, and down jackets, not only is their outerwear stylish, but I love the quality and feel of the brand.  Since suede is big this fall,  I'm thinking that I need to add a suede piece to my wardrobe, and this Sage moto jacket is now on top of my wish list.  Not only do I love the the cut of the jacket, but the shearling collar is detachable, giving it two different looks.  Bomber jackets are another must have this fall (I love them paired with both jeans and dresses), and this ultra light nylon bomber makes a great option.  It's the perfect transitional piece, and I'm in love with the aqua color (it also comes in black).  One of the easiest ways to update an outfit, and add a little warmth, is to layer on a fur vest, and of course, a leather jacket can make any outfit more stylish.  Lets not forget that a great winter coat is a must have if you live in the North, and I love that this Miranda jacket can be worn several different ways.  It's like getting three coats in one!

These are just my top picks, but Andrew Marc has so many great coats to choose from.  I also love their men's selection, so make sure to check out their coats, and shoes, for those men in your life.  You can shop Andrew Marc here.  Tell me, what's your favorite?

Lady in Red

Oh my goodness, you all are probably going to laugh at me, but I am wearing this red ruffle dress the WRONG way!  There are actually two slits in the ruffle that you're suppose to put your arms through, making this dress a cold shoulder cut (see here), but I totally forgot to wear the sleeves when shooting these photos (which I'm blaming on the fact that I was sick all weekend)!  If you know my style, you know it was the cold shoulder cut that drew me to this dress in the first place, so I'm laughing at the fact that I didn't completely put it on the right way.  I didn't realize my mistake until I was done editing these photos, and was about to delete them, when I realized that I really liked how this dress looked styled without the sleeves.  I don't have to wear it the way it's shown on the model, and if I feel good in it, that's all that matters.  That's the thing I love about fashion, there is no right or wrong, it's all about having fun and styling items to work for your personal preferences.  Because I love the dress worn this way, it's like having two dresses in one, and I can't wait to restyle it with the sleeves soon!

Now, red is not normally a color that I gravitate to, but when I saw this dress I had to have it, and am thinking every woman should have a red dress in her closet.  There is something that is simply sexy about a red dress, which not only makes it perfect for a date night, but also a fun option for a wedding, drinks with the girls, or a holiday party.  I have a feeling that I'll be wearing this dress for many occasions.  I paired it with my black fringe heels and clutch for a dressed up look, and finished my outfit with gold jewelry.  My earrings and bracelets are from Color by Amber, a jewelry line that is Eco friendly, and empowers women though work at home jobs and giving programs.  Their pieces are not only beautiful, but I love that by wearing their jewelry I'm doing good for the world.

Billowing Sleeves + WW Link Up

Off-the-shoulder, stripes, and big billowing sleeves?  Yes, yes, and yes!  This Chicwish stripe blouse is pretty much my dream come true.  I initially wanted to pair this top with my flare jeans, which you may have seen on my Snapchat (Rach480), but because I couldn't decide the perfect shoe to complete the look, I went with my usual skinnies.  These Rag & Bone jeans are actually a dark blue, but have to admit that they look almost black in these photos.  I loved how the blue and white stripes looked against the dark denim, and I finished my look with white pumps, and a red clutch for a  pop of color.  Although this top would look amazing with a pair of white shorts to complete the summer, I love it paired with the dark denim (flare or skinny) for look that will take me straight through the fall.

I'm still obsessing over these Karen Walker sunnies from Ditto, but I can't wait for my new designer pair to come, and to show you what I picked out!  Ditto offers a subscription service where you can borrow designer sunglasses, and swap them out for new pairs as often as you would like.  In case you missed why I'm loving Ditto's Endless Eye Wear Program, you can read about it here.   If you want to try this awesome service, you can get your first month free by using the code THREADSFORTHOMAS at checkout.

Beauty Favorites

I am far from being a beauty expert.  In fact I'm still trying to figure out the difference between concealer, corrector, and highlighter, and don't even get me started on where all these products go on the face.   However, since entering my thirties, trying new beauty products has become an obsession of mine, as I am always on the hunt for anything that helps stop the aging process, or makes me look younger.  During this hunt, not only have I improved my makeup applying techniques, but I have fallen in love with some items that have become staples in my beauty cabinet.  Today I'm sharing with you some of my everyday favorites.

Anastasia Contour Kit: You can tell by the packaging that I use this a lot!  I have to admit that this is the first contour kit that I have tried, as before I was using my bronzer to attempt my contouring.  But it it will probably be the only contour kit that I try, because I love it.  It's very easy to use and the highlight adds the perfect glow.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation:  Okay, so I only started using this foundation last week, but I had to share it, because so far I'm obsessed.  For the past 10 years (literally) I have been using this Lancome foundation, but wanted to try something with a full coverage.  Not only does it do a great job at concealing all the spots that I want to hide on my face, but but goes on smooth and doesn't feel heavy.  I thought that I'd only use a full coverage foundation for photo shoots and events, but I've actually been wearing this everyday!

Maybelline Master Fix Setting Powder and Boosting Setting Spray: I feel like I'm that person who's makeup will never stay put.  My foundation is pretty much worn off after four hours, my eye liner smudged after an hour, and my lipstick gone thirty minutes after applying.  I've been following Maybelline on Snapchat, and noticed that they always finish their makeup tutorials with these two products.  Being drug store products at great prices, I thought they were definitely worth a try.  And guess what, they work!  I've noticed a big difference with my makeup lasting.  Although I still have to touch up late in the day, using these two products has added a good two to three hours to my normal wear.

I'd also like to add that I've been using the Kyle Lip Kit and Lipsense and am in love with both of these products.  They actually last, and it's been amazing to look in the mirror four hours later and still have color on my lips!

Ouai Wave Spray: I've used several wave sprays in the past, but this is by far my favorite.  I love the texture and beachy look it adds to my hair, and it smells AMAZING!  I can't wait to try more products from the Ouai line.

Rodan + Fields Redefine Multi- Function Eye Cream: I stay up way too late.  My lack of sleep mixed with my age, calls for a great eye cream, and this is the best one that I've tried.   Trust me when I say that I have tried a lot!  I love the texture of the cream, and although I still have "happy lines"  around my eyes, I feel like they are a little less noticeable since using this eye cream.

I'm always looking to try new beauty products, and would love to hear which ones are your favorites. I'm also on the hunt for great face masks, so If you have any you love, please share in the comments!

Sporty Slip Dress

Sorry for the late post, but to say the past four days haven't gone my way would be an understatement.  Late Friday night I found out that Mason had head lice.  Head lice!!  And yes, the next morning after treating all our hair, I discovered that Tyler and myself also were infested.  Seriously though, it is just my luck that my stay at home twins would contract head lice.  Our time around other kids is very short, so I'm still wrapping my head around this situation.  Anyway, instead of spending the weekend up at the lake, and this week in the Cape, I've been home delousing, sterilizing, and cleaning every nook and cranny in my house and car.  I definitely went overboard with the cleaning, but hey, I'd rather be safe than sorry.  Lets not forget that I had to do this all myself, as Mike was in LA this weekend, so I'm pretty exhausted.  I hope I didn't gross you out by sharing this, but if I learned anything the past couple of days, is that lice is more of an annoyance than anything else, and there are much worse things in life.

Now onto something positive!  The slip dress has made a comeback this season, and I'm quite happy with its return.   I have seen many bloggers giving their slip dresses a 90's flare by layering them over tee shirts, and I decide it was time that I gave this look a try.  I've had this blush slip dress sitting in my closet for several years, and decided to go for a casual feel by pairing it with my Stan Smith sneakers and a denim jacket.  I love the sporty contrast that the tee and sneakers added to such a feminine piece, and thought it made a fun daytime look.

What do you think?  Would you rock a slip dress?

Navy Shift Dress + WW Link Up

Happy FriYay!  Does everyone have fun plans for the weekend?  I'm on my own with the twins, as Mike will be in LA, so I'll have my hands full.  Since the weekend is suppose to be beautiful, I'm taking the boys up to the lake so we can enjoy the little bit of summer that we have left on the water.  Then on Monday we head to Cape Cod.  I'm really excited to go since we never made it to the Cape last summer, and I think the boys will love it there.  We'll be on the Cape until Thursday, and just an FYI, the place were we stay has really poor cell service, and extremely slow internet, so if I'm a little quiet on the blog front, you'll know why!

Now onto my look because I am obsessing over this mod shift dress.  I really didn't mean to have such a fall inspired post when we're all still melting in the summer heat, but when I got this dress, I had to share it right away.  I love the shift style because it's very easy to wear, and super comfortable as no part is too tight or clingy.  However it's the bell sleeves and open back detail that sold me.   I paired it with my new open toe booties, which I can't stop wearing (sorry), and finished my look with this denim stripe mini satchel.  Is this not the cutest bag?  I love how the stripes add a fun touch to the navy dress, and decided to kept my jewelry simple making the bag the focal point of my look.

Although this dress and bootie combo makes a great fall look, I also feel this dress is ideal for a cool summer's night.  I will definitely be packing it for the Cape, as it's the perfect piece for throwing on with sandals for cocktails on the porch.
