My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases + Link Up

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale #nsale #fallstyle

I'll admit, I had my alarm set to go off at 3am for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (early access) launch, but I just couldn't get out of bed!  Although it probably makes me a bad blogger, since I was late getting my Anniversary Sale post live, sleeping until 7am had me well rested, and refreshed for a day of shopping!  I wasn't able to make it into the store yesterday to shop, since the twins were home with me (major props to moms who can shop with their toddlers), but I searched the Nordstrom website high and low for all my favorite fall pieces, and shared them in this post here.  I made sure to purchase the items I'd been eying online, before they sold out, and opted to pick them up in store (one of my favorite features with shopping Nordstrom online).  Thanks to my Father-in-law, I had a kid-free hour to run to Nordstrom to pick up my purchases, and do a quick browse of the shoe section.  Here is everything I purchased (so far).

For sizing reference, I am 5'7" and 128 lbs.

Above Photo:
Thread & Supply Brandon Fleece Jacket (Original Price $88, Sale Price $58.90):  Seriously the softest jacket ever.  I'll be living in it this fall.  It runs a tad large, and I love how the size small fit me.

Brixon Fiddler Corduroy Baker Boy Cap (Original Price $48, Sale Price $31.90):  How adorable is this hat?  I'm loving the feminine touch of the Rose color, but it also comes in black.  This hat does come sized.  I'm wearing a small, and I still have a little room.

Basic Thermal #nsale #fallstyle

Socialite Thermal Henley (Original Price $38, Sale Price $24.90):  This thermal is such a great basic, and super soft.  Not only is it cute on it's own, but it makes the perfect layering piece.  It comes in three colors and runs a tad on the small side.  I got the medium, and love that it wasn't too fitted.

Madewell 10" High Waist Skinny Jeans (Original Price $135, Sale Price $89.90).  Okay, so I didn't buy these jeans during the sale, but am so excited that they are included, as they're my favorite jeans!!  I think that the wash is a tad different, but the cut is the exact same.  I love the high rise and the button detailing.  Since they are a 29" inseam, they are an ankle fit on me, but love the length for summer, or paired with booties for the fall. They run true to size, and I'm wearing a 26.

Peep Toe Mule #nsale #fallstyle

BP. Tonya Open Toe Mule (Original Price $79.95, Sale Price $49.90): So these were a total impulse purchase.  I didn't notice them until I was browsing the shoe section while picking up my purchases.  It was the blush color that caught my eye, although they also come in black, red, and grey.  I love the block heel, and that I can wear them now and into the fall.  I sized up a half of size.

Lace Trim Camisole #nsale #fallstyle

BP. Lace Trim Satin Camisole (Original Price $35, Sale Price $22.90):  This is a closet staple!  I bought it in black last year, and can't count the amount of times that I have worn it.  It's cute paired with high waist shorts now, and perfect under a cardigan, blazer or leather in the fall.

Faux Leather Jacket #nsale #fallstyle

Blank NYC Meant to Be Moto Jacket (Original Price $98, Sale Price $64.90):  If you're looking for a great faux leather jacket, then this is it!  It comes with a removable hoodie, so it's like two jackets in one.  I love that the hoodie adds a relaxed, causal vibe to the jacket.  I'm normally a size small in Blank, but sized up to the medium.

Booties #nsale #fallstyle

Vince Camuto Movinta Bootie (Original Price $149.95, Sale Price $99.90):  I'm loving the shape of these booties.   The tapered heel gives off an Isabel Marant vibe, and it's the perfect hight.  Short enough for running around in the daytime, but high enough to wear out at night.  These boots come in four colors, but I opted for the black as I needed a new pair in my wardrobe.  I can definitely see myself wearing these with everything from jeans to dresses.  They run true to size.

I'll be doing an in-store shopping/try-on session soon.  I had planned on doing it today, but think I'll wait until the sale is open for the public to find all of the goodies that are still available.  If you have any product or sizing questions, please feel free to message me.  Also, don't forget to enter the $600 Nordstrom Gift Card Giveaway HERE!

I've already placed my first order, and will be picking up my merchandise later today, so stay tuned for a try on session.  In the meantime, to make shopping the sale easy for you all, I broke down my top sale picks by category.  My strategy for shopping the Anniversary sale is to stock up on basics, so that's pretty much what I'm sharing.  However, if there is anything specific that you would like to see on, or need help with choosing, send me an email and I'll be happy to help you out!  I plan on making a visit to my local Nordstrom tomorrow (Friday) for a try on session, so I can better show you how everything fits.  Happy Shopping!

Trunk Club Review + Giveaway

Trunk Club Review
*This post contains affiliate links.

I finally tried Trunk Club!  I had been wanting to try the personal styling service for several months, but for some reason never got around to scheduling my first Trunk.  Now, I'm mad I didn't sign up sooner, because I'm loving the service!

If you're unfamiliar with Trunk club, it's a personal styling service that is owned by Nordstrom.  Some cities (Boston being one) have clubhouses where you can shop with a personal stylist in person.  However, if you're unable to make it to a Clubhouse, you can sign up online and have a Trunk sent to your home!  After signing up and creating your profile (which is quick and easy), you are assigned a stylist who will then message you to learn about your style preferences.  I loved that I had an open conversation with my stylist as she got to know my style, and I could easily tell her what I was looking for and wanting to add to my closet.  Your stylist then puts together a package (Trunk) of 12 items to send to you, all to try on in the comfort of your own home.  You have 5 days to decide what you want to keep and send back, then you can either schedule a pick up of your Truck (in the prepaid package provided), or drop it off at your local Nordstrom store.  Also, if you like an item and it's the wrong size, or want it in a different color, you can exchange it!  The best part is, you get to preview everything that your stylist sends in your Trunk beforehand!  That way, if there was something you know you don't want, you can simply have it switched out for another item!

There is a $25 styling fee with each Trunk.  If you end up keeping any items, then the $25 is put towards your purchase.  If you have a Nordstrom credit card, then the fee is waived!  You can sign up for Trunk Club here.

Here is what was in my Trunk:
1. Madewell Jumpsuit (shown above).  I thought this jump suit was super cute, and love the floral print and wide leg cut.  Unfortunately, the torso was a tad to short on me.  Between my tall frame and large chest, it just felt like it was pulling every time that I bent over.  Besides that, the rest of the jumpsuit fit great, so I think the medium would been too big.  If you're looking for a jumpsuit that can take you from day to night, I highly suggest this one!

Trunk Club Review
2. Willow & Clay Print Wrap Maxi Dress.  You guys, how pretty is this dress!  I have been wanting to add a wrap dress to my wardrobe, and love the print and cut of this one.  Plus, the pom pom detailing and bell sleeves, gave it a fun kimono feel.  Unfortunately, if you're large chested, this dress isn't for you.  It barely covered my chest, and every time that I moved it fell wide open. The rest of the dress fit perfectly, so I was bummed I had to send it back.

Trunk Club Review
3. 1. State Tie Front Blouse.  I feel this top would make a great staple in every woman's closet! I love the tie front detail, and can see myself wearing this with everything from jeans, to a skirt for the office.  It runs true to size (I'm wearing a small), and comes in four colors.

Trunk Club Review
4. Willow & Clay Eyelet Shorts.  These are adorable!  I love the eyelet material and the pom pom detailing.  The length is perfect (not too long, but not too short), and I can see myself styling them many different ways.

5. E8 My Miista Fringe Slides.  I thought the detailing on these slides were so fun!  I love how they can easily dress up a plain outfit.  However, I really wasn't sure how much I would actually wear them, so I sent them back.

Trunk Club Review
6. Leith Side Knot Tee.  This tee is so my style! The knot detail adds such a fun touch to a basic, and I'm obsessed with the color.  It's perfect paired with jeans, or can be dressed up.  It's also available in Ivory and Black.

Trunk Club Review
7. Marc Fisher Zala Pump.  One thing that I needed to add to my wardrobe was a nude pump, so I asked my stylist to send me a pair.  This isn't a style that I would pick out for myself, but instantly fell in love with them after trying them on!  They're perfect for both daytime and night, and the block heel makes them comfortable and easy to walk in.  These are a classic that I will have in my closet for years to come.  They are also available in 8 colors.

Trunk Club Review
8. Vince Camuto Emberton Mule.  I actually asked my stylist for a specific mule, but since they weren't available through Trunk Club, she sent these for me to try instead.  Although I like the idea of them, I was hoping for a mule with a smaller heel, and didn't love how these looked on my foot.  Plus they run about a half size small, so they didn't fit.

Not shown: I was also sent these Caslon Drawstring Linen Pants, and three swimsuits.  I had requested a couple of one piece suits, which all three were super cute, but unfortunately non fit right.

So, what did I keep?
The Marc Fischer pumps.   Not only do I love them, but they're actually an item that I needed in my wardrobe.  Trust me, there were so many great items in my Trunk, and if I had the budget, I would have also kept the 1. State Tie Front Blouse, the Leith Side Knot Tee, and the Willow & Clay Eyelet shorts (all fit perfectly too).  However with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale beginning this week, I kept my Trunk purchases this month to a minimum.

Why I love the service:
As someone who is constantly shopping online, I love this service as I get to try the items on in my home, and I'm only charged for what I keep.  It's nice to not have to deal with any returns, and the fact that I can schedule a pickup for the items I'm sending back, is a major plus!  I also love using a personal stylist, as mine sent me items that I wouldn't normally choose for myself.  For instance, although I told her I needed a nude pump, I would have never thought to try on the pair she sent.  Also, I love that she introduced me to new brands.  Although the Willow & Clay dress didn't fit, I did like the dress so I checked out other items from the brand, and love the line! I will definitely be shopping for Willow & Clay in the future!

The Best Mom-Friendly Bathing Suits + Link Up

*This post contains affiliate links.
mom friendly swimsuit

mom friendly swimsuit

Happy Friday Friends!  Is anyone else confused to what day of the week it is?  If you've been following along on my Instagram and Stories, then you know that the family and I have been on vacation up at the lake!  It's been a fun filled week of boating, beach time, and fun in the sun.  Because I'm still on vacation mode, I decided to do a round up of (in my opinion) the best, mom-friendly, swimsuits this season.

Now, you may be asking what make a swimsuit mom-friendly?  I have two main criteria, which are the following:

1. It must hide the tummy.  Now, I know that not all moms are left with a "mom pudge" after having kids, but since carrying twins, I do have extra skin that I'd rather not show.  Plus, since I'm apple shaped, my stomach tends to be my problem area and bloats very easily.  Because of this, I'm much more confident having my tummy covered.  I can't tell you how excited I am that high rise bikinis and one piece swimsuits are in style!  Not only do they cover the stomach, but many have rouching, or patterns that make you appear slimmer.  I love that they're both flattering, and stylish!

2. Nothing should fall out when bending over.  The worst thing is having to constantly adjust your swimsuit all day long, especially when you have young kids.  Because I'm constantly bending over to help my boys, or holding them, I need my bathing suit to stay in place and hold everything in.  I just got this ruffled one piece and wore it all week.  Even though it's an off-the-shoulder cut, the sleeves stayed in place, and I was comfortable wearing it all day long.

I
I'm linking all of my top picks for mom-friendly bathing suits below.  What do you look for in a swimsuit?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview + Giveaway

*This post contains affiliate links.

It's that time of year again... and no I'm not talking about July 4th (my favorite holiday), or Hanukkah and Christmas.  I'm talking about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  This is the one sale that allows you to purchase BRAND NEW fall merchandise at discounted prices!  Now, I know it may be hard to think about fall merchandise when (for many of us) summer has just begun, but Im telling you, now is the time to stock up on those fall wardrobe staples.  Although the sale doesn't begin for a couple of weeks (July 12th for cardholders, and July 20th for public access), I'm giving you all the details you need to know so that you're prepared to shop.  Trust me, you'll want to be ready as items sell out fast!  Here is the lowdown:

What is the Anniversary Sale?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale takes place every July, where new fall arrivals are offered at discounted prices.  Unlike other sales, where the merchandise has been sitting on the sales floor (or available online) for a period of time, this sale includes all BRAND NEW merchandise!  Once the sale ends, the prices will go back up.  This sale is also a favorite of mine because it includes many of the brands that I love.  Tory Burch, Hunter, Stuart Weitzman, Frame, Spanx, and Theory to name a few.  Not only is it a great time to stock up on your fall wardrobe, but the sale includes accessories, beauty specials, and home decor.

When Does It Take Place?

July 12th-19th: Early Access.  This is for anyone with a Nordstrom credit card. Although I would never encourage anyone to open up a credit card, there are many advantages to having one.  First, you get to shop the sale for a full week before it opens up to the public.  I know some items sell out fast, so this way you're more likely to snag the items you want before your size sells out.  Second, because you get points on your purchases, plus a $40 credit (or Note) when you make a purchase the day you open the card.  You can apply for the card here.

July20th- August 5th: Public Access.  This is when the sale is open for everyone to shop.

*Prices go back up August 6th

Strategy

Sales can be overwhelming, so plan ahead.  Take inventory of your fall wardrobe, and make a list of the items that you need.  If you're a shopaholic (like I am) and trying to stick to a budget, stick to searching for the products that you need to add to your closet because, trust me, you will be distracted!  If there is something that you really want from the sale, purchase it right away, as sizes sell out fast.  Last year, I learned that a lot of items don't ever get restocked, so if there is something that you're loving, get it before it gone!  I also suggest that if you're not sure on what size to get, order two different sizes.  Nordstrom has the best return policy, and makes the return process easy.  You can return in store, or send it back with free shipping!  And finally, make sure to follow along as I shop the sale, because I'll be sharing all of the items that I feel make great additions to everyone's fall wardrobe.

I took a peek at the Anniversary Sale Catalog, and am already excited!  There are so many items that I want to add to my wardrobe, and I know there will be a TON more once the sale begins.  However, since I am on a budget, I made a list of my fall must haves, which include a new sweater, a great fitting pair of jeans, a new pair of booties, an IT bag, and a date night blouse.  Below are my top picks from the catalog, but stay tuned as I will also be updating the blog with my picks when the sale goes live.  I will also be heading to Nordstrom for try on session on the 13th and sharing it here on the blog, and on my Instagram, so follow along!
