What To Wear For Thanksgiving

For the Formal Diners

If you need to dress up for Thanksgiving, a shift dress is the way to go.  The loose fitting shape leaves you with plenty of room for eating as much as you want and hides a bloated stomach.  Pair it with a dressy bootie and you're good to go!

Leather pants make a great option for being comfortable and looking put together, especially this slouchy pair with an elastic waist.  Pair them with a great turtleneck sweater or boucle jacket.  Also, an a line skirt is a great option worn with either a sweater or silk blouse.

Thanksgiving Savior: The Button Extender

It was last year, while complaining to a friend about how a new pair of jeans I had bought fit perfectly in the legs but was a tad tight in the waist making them uncomfortable, that she introduced me to the Button Extender.  This simple piece of plastic, that comes in a pack of five, for less than five dollars is the best invention and works by adding an extra inch to the waist of your pants.  You simply loop the open end of the extender around the button on your pants and insert the button end into the button hole in your pants and in seconds you've added an inch to your waistband.  It is the perfect solution for those days you are feeling bloated and still want to wear your skinny jeans or for holidays, such as Thanksgiving, when you want to be able to stuff your face and aren't able to wear sweat pants.

You can get the button extender at

Obsession of the Week: Valentino Embellished Leather Shoulder Bag

Valentino Embellished Leather Shoulder Bag here

Okay, so I know what you are all thinking, Rachael you just recently blogged about Valentino's Rocklock Camouflage bag (here), you're blogging about Valentino again?   But I just couldn't help sharing after I laid eyes on this bag today while browsing on  This bag is embellished with crystals, faux pearls, and hand-applied pyramid studs giving off a very lady-like with a bad side feel, and I can't get enough.  It would be the perfect bag for all of the upcoming holiday parties, however, with the $3,995 price tag, I'll have to remain obsessing over it from a distance.

Line I Love: Anine Bing

photos courtesy

It was just this past summer, while browsing for dresses on, that I came across the absolute perfect white dress (seen here and here) and that is when I discovered the line Anine Bing.  After viewing her collection I immediately fell in love.  Known for her bohemian-rocker style, Anine Bing's clothing not only gives off a cool girl vibe, but it is also very easy to wear.  She is especially known for her leather jackets and studded booties.

The Danish born, Bing, named her line after herself when launching it in 2012 and it was an instant hit among the fashion forwards, bloggers and celebrities.  However, her talents not only lay in fashion, as Anine was a model and the lead singer of a band called Kill Your Darlings.  She now resides in LA designing clothes that she, herself, would want in her wardrobe and I, myself, can not get enough of.

P.S. She just launched sunglasses!

Obsession of the Week: Isabel Marant Tacy Bootie

I have been obsessing over these Isabel Marant Tacy Pony Booties all fall.  These not so basic black booties add a bit of edge to any outfit (which we all know I go crazy for) with their goat suede leather, the calf hair detail on the front, and the multiple leather straps.  However, with the $1505.00 price tag, I can securely say they won't be joining my wardrobe this year.  Fortunately, Isabel Marant's collaboration with H&M became available yesterday and the suede booties below, which I love just as much, are just a fraction of the price at $299.00.  Unfortunately, by the time I was able to log onto to shop, my size was sold out :(  So, I will continue my search for an edgy bootie that is similar, but in the meantime I think it's time to start a Isabel Marant savings fund!!

I also love these Isabel Marant Tacy Booties

Tell me, did you get a chance to shop the Isabel Marant pour H&M collection?  If so, I'd love to hear what pieces you added to your wardrobe.

Fur Vest and Over the Knee Boots

Hi everyone, happy Thursday!  This is an outfit I wore last week when it was a little warmer.  It has definitely felt like winter here in Boston the past two days.  I don't know about you, but I could use a couple more weeks of fall weather with temps in the 50's and 60's before we get into winter temps, but I guess I don't have a choice in that matter :(   I was happy to break out my over the knee boots, and paired with my faux fur vest, added a bit of edge to an otherwise classic dress.  To winterize this outfit, I would add a white blouse and black tights under the dress.  You could also swap the fur vest for a leather jacket making it more suitable for winter.

Everyone should have a basic black dress in their closet as they are very versatile.  I recently bought this dress and have already worn it three times.  I wore it here making it a big edgier, I wore it to work with tights, a blazer, and ankle booties, and I dressed it up with heals for a dinner rehearsal I attended last weekend.  A statement necklace is a perfect accessory for this dress because it adds interest making it not so basic.  Here I wore a simple one from House of Harlow but I will be investing in some jeweled statement necklaces for the holiday season.  Paired with this dress, it will make a perfect outfit for holiday parties.

I bought these boots two years ago, but if you're looking for some good over the knee boots, check out my top picks here

5. Stella McCartney Chunky Knit Beanie here
6. Banana Republic Bow Beanie here

Brrrr.... today in Boston we had our first snow!  Between the falling snowflakes that I woke up to and a temperature of 35 degrees, it definitely felt like winter.  I pulled out my down jacket because I was so cold and grabbed a pair of gloves before running out the door, but I didn't have a cute hat to throw on and wished that I owned a beanie.  I like beanies because they are typically smaller and closer-fitting to the head than other hats.  I find that a lot of hats are too bulky for my head, making it look bigger, but the beanie is suppose to sit on the back of the head giving a sleeker more fashionable look.  When I got home today, I went on an internet search for beanies and narrowed down the ones I like to the 6 above.  Which one do you think I should get?

If you don't already own one, I highly suggest adding a bomber jacket to your wardrobe.  Bomber jackets are one of my favorite pieces to wear this season as they make a great alternatives to blazers or sweaters.  I own the silk one by Equipment above, seen here, and have been wearing it with everything from jeans to dresses.  I love how they have that boyish varsity look when paired with jeans and sneakers, or how you can throw them on over a dress for a dressier, playful look.   Above are my bomber jacket picks if you're thinking of adding one to your closet.  Thanks for reading and have a great evening!

Hi Everyone, happy Friday!  Here are some photos of how I styled the Sincerely Jules Celfie tee shirt I got a few weeks ago.  I love all the catch phrase tee shirts that are popular right now as it is an easy way to add a big statement to your outfits.  I decided to pair the tee with my Equipment bomber jacket dressing down my skirt for an easy look.

This tee shirt was designed by one of my favorite bloggers, Sincerely Jules.  I love her laid back style and her outfits are one of my sources of inspiration.  Check out her blog here.

Bomber jackets are a must have this fall, and I love this one from Equipment.  It has a varsity look that is great paired with jeans, but since this one is made of silk, it can also be dressed up as I've been wearing it over dresses.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
