Stripe Sweater and Link Up

Happy Friday and Halloween weekend.  Does everyone have fun plans for the holiday?  My little family will be attending a friend's party for Halloween, and all the kids will be able to trick or treat in her neighborhood.  Make sure to follow along on Snapchat (Rach480) or Instagram to see what the twins and I will be dressing up as!  Today I'm sharing with you one of my favorite styling tricks: wearing a sweater backwards.  I love the idea of taking a top and switching it around to give it an all new look.  The key to doing this is to use a top or sweater that is slightly over-sized.  I added this v-neck sweater to my wardrobe about four years ago, and ended up buying it in a large because I wanted it to be extra slouchy.  It's since been my favorite to wear with skinny jeans and leggings, and I love how the V looks worn in the back.  Paired with skinny jeans and heeled booties, it makes the perfect weekend look that's cozy and subtly sexy all in one.  What do you think?

This Mirina Collections necklace has quickly become my favorite accessory, even enough where I have cut back on wearing my gold necklaces!  It makes the perfect piece to dress up a basic outfit.  If you haven't checked out Mirina Collections statement necklaces and jewelry, I highly suggest you do!

Rachael's Radar: Over the Knee Boots

Happy Hump Day everyone!  Today I'm sharing another fall/winter essential, the over-the-knee (OTK) boot.  I have already been living in mine this fall, and I have a feeling they'll be my most grabbed shoe this winter.  Not only can they make an outfit look more chic, but they give you an extra layer of warmth, perfect for someone like me who is always cold!  In the past, I've always worn my OTK boots with skinny jeans and leggings, but this season I'm all about pairing them with skirts and dresses.  The pair I own (shown below) are actually a couple of years old, and although I sill love them, it's time to add a new pair to my wardrobe.  Most of you know that these Stuart Weitzman Highland boots are the IT boot to have, as I have been obsessed with them for the past year (along with wanting this flat pair forever).  However, I still can't get myself to pull the trigger on their hefty price tag, so instead I've found some great alternatives.  I'm loving the lace up back on this pair by Missguided, and you can't beat the price at  $77!  But I think I'm going to end up buying this Steve Madden pair.  Now the only question is black or grey?

{This photo was taken two years ago, one of my first blog posts!  Although this photo is making me cringe, I wanted to show you that I am still wearing these OTK boots.}

How to Wear all Black

It's no secret that black is my favorite color when it comes to clothing.  As much as I try to add brighter colors into my wardrobe, I just have to face the fact that I'm a neutral girl, as that's what I feel best wearing.  One of my favorite, and fool proof, outfits to wear is all black.  Not only is this look easy to put together, but it's also very slimming, and I love that gives off a bit of an edgy vibe.  The key to wearing all black is to mix different textures together, making your outfit interesting instead of boring.  Here, I layered a lace tank under my favorite blazer, and paired them with faux leather skinny jeans.  I finished my outfit with a black skinny scarf for a fun layer, then added neutral heels and clutch to lighten the look.

I haven't worn a lace camisole in quite some time.  I remember black pants and lace camisoles were my go to outfit back in my college days.  Now with their return, I'm finding them to be perfect layering pieces, and love how this one looks under my black blazer.  If only I kept all my old camis.......

Suede Skirt and Large Bow + Weekend Wear Link Up

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm so happy the weekend has arrived and I'm FINALLY starting to feel normal again.  Although I still have a little head cold, I'm feeling much better.  I'll just be taking it easy this weekend to fully recover.  As those of you who follow my blog regularly know, I'm all about wearing items in my closet more than once, and showing you how I restyle them different ways.  I first wore this skirt back in August, here, as a transitional piece, and today am restyling it for a true fall look.  I thought it would be fun to pair it with my Asos bow tie and OTK boots for an updated, slightly 70's look.  I also can't wait to pair it with a cozy, over sized knit, so stay tuned this winter for look number three.....

Bells and Pom Poms

Happy Wednesday everyone.  A quick post today since I'm still feeling under the weather.  Thank you for all the well wishes on Monday's post.  I'm not sure what I have, but I'm guessing it's a mild case of the flu.  Mike wasn't feeling well yesterday either, and I just hope the twins don't get sick. Which reminds me, I need to take them to get their flu shots.

This is the outfit I wore the prior week while hosting a Ceci Palm Beach trunk show, which you may have seen if you follow me on Instagram.  You probably know by now that I have a love for off-the-shoulder tops, but I'm especially loving the bell sleeves with the pom pom details on this blouse.  It's a fun way to wear the trend without being over the top.  I decided to go for a causal look by pairing it with jeans and flats.  I don't normally go all matchy-matchy with my shoes and tops, but couldn't resist since they are both that fiery red color.   I can also see this top being perfect for the holiday season worn tucked into a pencil skirt, or with black high waist slim trousers for a Dolce and Gabbana-esque feel.

Insta-Life Lately

Happy Monday everyone!  Although, my Monday could be better because as I am writing this post I am sick (which is also why this post is coming to you later than normal).  I woke up Sunday morning with a sore throat and body aches.  The good news is that I didn't get sick until Sunday morning so it didn't ruin my time in Killington, Vermont this past weekend.  The bad news is that I had planned on taking a few outfit pictures on Sunday while still in Vermont, since the backdrop is gorgeous there this time of year.  However, since I had the chills Sunday morning, taking photos in 30 degree weather didn't seem like the best idea.  So unfortunately, I don't have a new outfit to share today, but instead decided to share some of my life lately as taken through Instagram.

Before I got sick, this weekend was a lot of fun. Although we woke up to snow on Saturday morning, I didn't mind it since we were in the mountains (if it snowed in Boston already, I would have cried!).  We took a gondola ride up to the Peak Lodge at the resort on Saturday, and the kids had a blast running around at the top of the mountain.  The views were absolutely gorgeous.  You had snow topped trees mixed with shades of reds and yellows.  It was also fun, because we got to see a couple get engaged up at the lodge!   After we left the mountain, we ended up at our favorite restaurant, Sushi Yoshi for cocktail hour and snacks, then went back to my mom's house for the rest of the evening.  I hope everyone had a great weekend!

{Love these boys!}
