A Subtle Way to Wear Leopard + Link Up

How to wear Leopard Print Booties

If there is one print that is everywhere this season, it is leopard.  Now, the animal print is nothing new.  In fact, it's been hanging in many fashionista's wardrobes for years, and some consider it to be a neutral.  Even so, it has taken front and center this season, and become the must-have print of fall 2018.  Some love rocking the bold print full on by wearing a great fitting dress or statement coat, but for those of us who mostly dress on the minimal side, I'm showing you how you can add the animal print to your look, without feeling over the top.

My favorite way to do this is by accessorizing with leopard.  By adding an animal print belt, bag, or pair of shoes, you're sporting the trend, but in a subtle way.  A leopard print booties makes a great option, as they stand out, but aren't necessarily the focal point of your outfit.  A flat or slide can take the look down a notch, but if you just want a hint of leopard, I suggest wearing the print as a belt or pair of earrings.

Trust me, I love the look of a leopard jacket and I'm even digging these pants, but for someone who mainly wears solid black and grey, I'm not ready to rock the trend that boldly..... at least not yet.  However, I am thinking I need this leopard print sweater!

My leopard boots are from last season, and no longer available, but I did link an almost identical pair. My top, jeans, and most of the leopard pieces that I linked below are currently on sale! They are included in the Shopbop Event of the Season Sale where everything is 20% off, and if you spend over $500 you get 25% off.  Hurry, the sale ends Saturday!!

The Best Fall Cardigans + WW Link Up

Oversized Cardigan
*This post contains affiliate links.

Has anyone else pulled out their fall sweaters yet?  With temperatures in the mid 60's (here in Boston) this week, not only did I organize all of my sweaters, but I was excited to finally wear some of the new ones that I purchased during the Nordstrom sale.  Although summer went by way too fast, I have to admit that this is my favorite time of year for dressing.  I love when it's cool enough to throw on a cozy knit, yet still warm enough that you don't need a jacket.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the weather has cooled off since tomorrow is officially the first day of Autumn.  Over the next couple of weeks I'll be sharing some of my must-have items for this fall and winter season, and today I'm beginning with my favorite fall staple: the cozy cardigan.  Not only are cardigans perfect to wrap yourself up in on a chilly day, but they pair well with everything!  From jeans, to work pants or dresses, you can never go wrong with a cardigan.  Plus they can be styled so many different ways.  Wear it open to show off a camisole or graphic tee, or wear it buttoned with belt over, to cinch in your waist.  This oversized cardigan is one that I snagged during the Nordstrom sale.  I love the waffle stitching and the grandfather fit.  Sizes are limited, but know it keeps coming in and out of stock (last time I checked, sizes extra-small and large were still available).  If you're looking for a great open cardigan, then I highly suggest this one.  I got is last year, and still wear it all of the time!  I also just ordered this open knit cardigan, and if you're looking for a splurge that will last you years to come, then I recommend this beauty from Vince.  Make sure to check out all of my cardigan picks below.

Trunk Club Review #2 + WW Link Up

Trunk Club Review
*This post contains affiliate links.

Hey everyone!  Last week I received my second Trunk Club, and it was a great one!  In fact, out of all the personal styling services that I use, this was my favorite shipment yet.  I have to admit, it was tough narrowing down what to keep, as I pretty much wanted to keep it all.  If you don't have time (or like) to shop, then I highly recommend this service.  I'm sharing everything that was in my Trunk below, plus you view see my try-on session on my Instagram Stories @thomasrachael.

If you're unfamiliar with Trunk Club, it's a personal styling service that is owned by Nordstrom.  Some cities (Boston being one) have clubhouses where you can shop with a personal stylist in person.  However, if you're unable to make it to a Clubhouse, you can sign up online and have a Trunk sent to your home!  After signing up and creating your profile (which is quick and easy), you are assigned a stylist who will then message you to learn about your style preferences.  I loved that I had an open conversation with my stylist as she got to know my style, and I could easily tell her what I was looking for and wanting to add to my closet.  Your stylist then puts together a package (Trunk) of 12 items to send to you, all to try on in the comfort of your own home.  You have 5 days to decide what you want to keep or send back, then you can either schedule a pick up of your Trunk (in the prepaid package provided), or drop it off at your local Nordstrom store.  Also, if you like an item and it's the wrong size, or want it in a different color, you can exchange it!  The best part is, you get to preview everything that your stylist sends in your Trunk beforehand!  That way, if there was something you know you don't want, you can simply have it switched out for another item!

There is a $25 styling fee with each Trunk.  If you end up keeping any items, then the $25 is put towards your purchase.  If you have a Nordstrom credit card, then the fee is waived!  You can sign up for Trunk Club here.

Trunk Club Review

1. Vince Camuto Flutter Sleeve Blouse.  I love the cut and fit of this blouse! The flutter sleeves add a fun and feminine detail, and I love how this blouse can work for both the office, or for a night out with the girls.  This blouse runs true to size (I'm wearing the small) and is available in 4 colors.

2. Vince Camuto Reeista Bootie.  (On sale for under $100) These booties are perfect for the fall!  I love the cut out detailing and wooden heel.  They're also available in black a grey, and run true to size.  Normally, these would have been a keeper for me, but I already own a similar pair, so I sent these back.

3. Harlyn Burnout Velvet Dress.  I have to admit, when I saw this dress sitting in my Trunk, I was not a fan.  I wasn't digging the velvet florals along with the lace inset.  However, after trying it on, I fell in love with the cut!  The dress is super flattering and the florals grew on me. It would be the perfect dress for attending a winter wedding.  Unfortunately, I don't have one coming up, so this dress went back.

If you love the velvet florals, but not the lace inset, you will love this dress here.

4. 1. State Ditsy Drift Flutter Sleeve Dress.  I am obsessed with this dress!  I love the pattern, cut, and fit.  It also makes a great option for a fall or winter wedding, or can be worn more casually with a leather jacket and booties.

5. TrouvĂ© Drape Front Leather Jacket.  If you're looking for a great leather jacket, then this is it! The leather is so soft, and I love the drape.  It's also a great price point for a real leather, and comes in three colors.  Because I already have a closet full of leather jackets, both real a faux, ended up sending this one back.  (If it were in my budget this month, I would have kept it though!!)

6. Madewell Stripe Crop Tee.  This tee is adorable, and I'm loving the two tone stripes.  It's a heavier weight material, making it perfect for transitioning into fall, plus the cropped cut looks great with high waist pants or jeans.

7. Halogen Wide Leg Pants. I've been loving the wide leg, cropped pant look, and was excited to try this pair after seeing them in my Trunk.  Although I love the fit, and the fact that they can be worn with sandals now and boots when it gets cold, I just don't need them at this time.  I rarely wear black pants, so for my next Trunk, I'll probably ask for this style in a denim!

8. Free People East Coast Top.  By now, you know that I'm a big fan of Free People, and this top had my name on it.  The material is very soft, making it wearable for daytime, but I love that it can easily be dressed up for a date night out.  The V neck does come pretty low, so when I wear it for daytime, I'll layer a camisole under it.  I actually own this Free People camisole, which looks great with it!

9. 1901 Pinstripe Jumpsuit. This is another item that I absolutely love, but didn't keep since I have nowhere to wear it.  This cropped jumpsuit is be perfect for the office paired with a blazer, but is also a great option for grabbing drinks or an event, as the back adds a fun and sexy twist.  It is super flattering, and runs true to size (I'm wearing a 4).

Also included in my Trunk, but not shown:

10. BP. Stitch Curve Hem Cardigan.  This cardigan is a classic, and such a good fall basic.  It looks great with jeans, or layered over dresses, and is available in 6 colors.  I do have to say it's very lightweight, making it ideal for early fall, and not the best sweater for the winter months.

11. Madewell High Rise Slim Boyfriend Jeans.  I love the shape of these jeans, but I was sent a size too large, making them unflattering.  I should request to try them in the size down, as I'm a fan of Madewell Jeans!

Have you tried Trunk Club?  If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts about the service in the comments below!  You can read my last Trunk Club review here!

How To Take Your Tee Shirt Dress From Summer To Fall

Stripe Dress #stripedress
*This post contains sponsored content and affiliate links.  All opinions are my own.

I have to admit, I've been living in this striped tee shirt dress.  I usually end up wearing it 2-3 times a week, as it's not only adorable, but easy to throw on, making getting dressed simple.  It's been perfect for the hot and humid weather we've been having here in Boston, and you can't beat the price at $11.  Yes, you heard me correct, $11!

Now that it's September and cooler days are ahead (hopefully), it doesn't mean that I'll be putting this dress away.  In fact, I'm excited to style it for the fall.  Below, I'm sharing how you can wear it now, and three different styling options that will take this dress far into the cooler months.

One Dress, Four Ways

Stripe tee shirt dress

First, this has been my go-to outfit as of late.  I just pair it with white sandals, and I'm ready for the day!

Now that it's September, I want my outfits to have a fall feel.  However, with temperatures still in the 80's it's a little too hot to wear layers.  An easy, and "cool" way to transition this outfit without sweating, is to style it with booties.  Booties can instantly add a fall vibe to any summer dress, and I'm loving the western feel of this Vince Camuto pair.  They're available in  4 colors, and are currently 40% off!  I finished my look by tying a chambray shirt around my waist.  It's a great way to add a layer, without actually having to wear it.  When it does get a bit cooler, the chambray will be perfect layered over the dress.

How to style a tee shirt dress

Another fun way to wear this dress, is to style it as a top!  I just knotted the front, threw on my favorite pair of jeans and booties, and I instantly had a new look.  When the weather cools off, I can add a cardigan or leather jacket for added warmth.

Leather jackets are a staple in my fall wardrobe, and I love this faux leather option by Blank NYC.  It has a removable hoodie, which gives the jacket two different looks.  It also comes in a green and mushroom color, and is a great option for under $100.  It instantly gives the dress a fall feel.  And, of course, when the temps cool off, I will throw on a pair of tights to finish this look!
