Rachael's Radar: Most Popular Recent Purchases

It's Friday!  Which also means it's time for another Rachael's Radar, where I share all the things that I'm loving, shopping for, or adding to my wish list.  Today's roundup includes my most popular recent purchases.  Not only have I been wearing these items non-stop, but they're the ones you're all loving, as I constantly get asked about them on social media!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember a couple of months back I was having trouble with my earrings bothering my ears.  No matter which pair I would put on, my ears would turn red and itchy within an hour.  I believe the metal from my statement earring were infecting my ears, and decided it was time to invest in quality jewelry to wear on a daily basis.  As solid gold isn't always an affordable choice, I decided to try these gold vermeil hoops, and have been loving them! Not only are they the perfect size for everyday wear, but they are small enough that I can also wear them in my second holes.  The best part is they have not bothered my ears once!  Since (real) gold vermeil is made with sterling silver (look for the .925 symbol to know if it's real) then plated with a thick gold, they are less likely to cause irritation.  They may be a bit pricier than all my statement earrings, but I love that I can wear them daily, and will have them for years.

This is my favorite sweater purchase this fall!  No only do I love the mustard color stripes, but the sweater is lightweight making it ideal for this time of year.  I recently discovered Carly Jean Los Angeles, and have fallen in love with the shop.  Not only do they have the cutest clothes (if your style is on the boho side, you'll love this shop), but the quality and price are spot on.  Although the sweater runs on the boxier side, I ended up getting a size medium and love the oversized fit.  It also comes in a rust stripe and black stripe.

Creamer LipSense
You guys, this is the perfect fall nude lip color!! If you haven't heard of LipSense, it's a long lasting lip color, that will last up to 18 hours.  It's waterproof, smudge proof, won't transfer off your lip, and basically stays on until you take it off.  I love that its wax free, gluten free, lead free, cruelty free and made in the USA.  LipSense is all that I've been wearing on my lips for the past two years, and every time I have this color on, I always get compliments.

I've been getting a lot of compliments about how good my lashes look, and it's because of Lashify, my at home lash extension system.  What I love about them, is they look like real lash extensions, except you put them on at home, and they're much more affordable!  It takes about 10 minutes to put on a set, you get to customize how bold or natural looking you want your lashes, and they last all week!

I'm going to be honest, I never thought I would find myself shopping for clothes at Walmart, but guess what, that's where these sneakers are from! I had seen them on a few other bloggers and thought they were really cute, so I decided to give them a try.  Not only do they look like a more expensive sneaker on, but they have memory foam and are super comfortable. Plus they're under $17!

The second I saw this scarf, I fell in love with the colors.  The peach, blush and grey combo are perfect for the fall, and go with so many of my new sweaters.  It also comes in a grey tone, and a bunch of plaid options, and is under $25.

Travel Style in CALIA

Anyone have a weekend getaway planned for this fall? Living in New England, we are blessed with beautiful weather in the autumn, which makes any surrounding town an ideal spot for a little getaway.  However, as beautiful as Boston is, the foliage is a thousand times more intense and breathtaking up north, which is why I always plan a trip to Vermont this time of year.  Which brings me to this outfit, because it's what I plan on wearing for the three hour car ride up north.  These pants are not only comfortable, but they are lightweight and don't wrinkle, making them a great choice for a long car ride or flight. I love how they look styled with a basic tank, but they'll also look great with a cozy sweater as the weather cools off.  I've already been wearing this anorak jacket non-stop!  It's lightweight, water resistant, and moisture-wicking, making it perfect during this in-between season, plus a great throw on for apple picking! 

My whole outfit is CALIA by Carrie Underwood, and I have recently become a huge fan of the brand.  I was introduced to the line this past spring, and it's now become my go-to for workout clothing.  I have many pairs of their leggings, and not only are they flattering, but the compression is perfect and they stay in place during my workouts.  Plus I love CALIA's jog bras!  They're the first bras that I have found that actually support larger chests.  Have you tried CALIA by Carrie before?  If not, I highly recommend that you do!

Snake Print Skirt

Who's loving the animal print trend this season?  I have to admit, I'm a big leopard girl, but didn't think I'd be finding myself wearing snake print, especially in the form of a maxi skirt. However, when I saw this snake print maxi skirt, I knew I needed to style it!  There is something about the muted colors that makes it very wearable, and the chiffon gives it a soft, feminine feel.  I love that it can be styled casually with a chunky sweater or leather jacket, or dressed it up with a silk blouse and heels.  This would also be the perfect skirt to wear on Thanksgiving (yes, I'm already thinking about the holidays), as it has an elastic waistband!

Speaking of leather jackets, this vegan suede jacket from Peach has already been my most worn item this season.  Not only is it lightweight, making it perfect for this transitional weather, but it's machine washable!  Yes, if your kids spill on it, you can throw it in the wash!  I'm wearing it in the khaki color, but it's also available in a beautiful moss green.

Amazon Beauty Finds Under $50

Who loves a good beauty find?  What's even better, is finding a great product that actually works, and is affordable!  In this weeks Rachael's Radar, I'm sharing my some favorite beauty finds, and they're all under $50!  In fact, most of them are under $20.  You're welcome.

1. I have tried a lot of dry shampoos, and have only found a couple that I like, and actually keep my grease at bay.  However, they're all over $20 a bottle! So when this one was recommended to me last year, I was excited to give it shot.  And I love it!!  Not only does it work just as well as my favorite high end dry shampoo, but it leaves less of a white residue in my hair, and smells so good.  I use the coconut formula, but if you're not a fan of coconut, it does come in other formula's/smells.  I haven't tried the others, so I can't speak of their performance, but I'd say they're worth try.  I also love that it's free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and is gluten free.  Oh yea, it's under $8 a bottle!

2. These beauty sponges are the best!  In the past couple of years, I have leaned that the tools you use to apply your makeup, make a big difference.  The better the brush, the more even application you'll get.  This also holds true with beauty sponges.   The best that I have found are by Beauty Blender, but at $17 to $20 a sponge, they aren't the most affordable.  Especially since the sponge needs to be replaced every couple of months.  I had seen a few influences talk about these BEAKEY sponges, so I decided to try them, and I'm glad that I did.  They make the perfect Beauty Blender dupe!  Plus you get a package of 5 for under $9.

3. I'm constantly on the hunt for good makeup brushes that are affordable.  And to be honest, my list is slim.  As I mentioned earlier, the brushes you use do make a difference in your makeup application.  The better the brush blends, the better your makeup will look!  Because I like to invest in good brushes, I have a high standard when it comes to affordable brushes.  Not only do I need them to blend well, but I can't stand when the bristles fall out, or the brush handle breaks. I've always found the Real Techniques brand to be a great option for affordable brushes, and I love this eye set!  Not only do I use it daily for myself, but I have a couple of sets that I use on my clients when giving makeovers. Plus, they're currently on sale for under $5!

4. If you follow along on my Instagram, then you have heard me talk about this hair dryer multiple times, plus I have a tutorial on how to use it saved to my highlights.  I picked this up during Prime Day after hearing both influencers and friends rave about it.  Not only does it cut down on my drying time, but I find it easier to handle than my normal hairdryer.  The best part is that it gives my hair more volume!  It took me a few time to get use to it, but it's all I use to dry my hair now, and I'd recommend it to everyone!

5. Okay, so I don't actually own this makeup bag yet, but I do currently have it in my cart.  I need a new travel makeup bag, and thought this made a cute LV dupe! Plus it has amazing reviews! It looks like a great size, and you can't beat the price!

6. How cute is the marble print on this makeup train case?  It's funny because I've seen so many people rave about this case is the past six months, and I've had mine for two years!  I actually own the larger size so I can travel with all of my makeup for demos and makeovers, but I think I need this smaller size for my personal weekend travels.  It's available in multiple colors, and most are under $20.

7. This brush cleanser is the best!  Not only does it easily clean all the makeup off of your brush, but it also dries within seconds, so you can use the brush right after cleaning it!  Plus it sanitizes, and smells really good. It's perfect for a quick brush cleaning!

8. This mascara is the bomb.  A friends of mine introduced me to it last year, and I ended up switching out my Super Hero mascara for it!  Not only does it add incredible length, but the formula is a deep black, making my lashes really pop!  I still can't get over the fact that this mascara is under $5!!! I do have to admit, currently, this is not what I use for mascara, as I have found a better option (with great ingredients), but if you're looking for an affordable find, then I highly recommend this Princess Lash!

Hi friends!  I hope every one's week is off to a great start.  As many of you know, I've been a little inconsistent with blogging his year.  Between my five-year-old son's chronic illness, my beauty business growing, and just everyday life of a SAHM, life got a bit overwhelming causing me to put Threads for Thomas on the back burner.  It was hard putting the blog aside, as it's something I truly love and enjoy, so that's why I'm excited to announce that I'm back!  Tyler is healthy and doing great, and he and his brother started Kindergarten this month, which means more free time for the blog!  I'll be back posting weekly, and I'm also excited to bring back Rachael's Radar!  Each week I'll be sharing five items that are currently on my Radar.  These are items that I'm loving, purchasing for myself, and putting on my dream wish list.  Here are the seven that I have my eye on this week:

1. Embroidered Dress: How adorable is this dress?  I'm loving the boho feel and eyelet detailing.  It reminds me of a Free People dress, but for half the price! I will look great paired with booties and a leather jacket, and I can also see myself wearing it as a tunic over skinny jeans.  This dress also comes in black and in white.

2. Henley: Speaking of Free People, I can never get enough of their thermals!  This henley thermal is such a great cut, and one I'll wear with both jeans and leggings.

3. Leopard Belt: I don't know about you, but I'm all about leopard print this season. What I love about this belt, is that it is a subtle way to add the print to your outfit without being overwhelming.  Pair it with jeans and a white top, and it's the perfect pop of leopard.

4. Cult Gia Bootie: These booties are just so cool!  They're definitely a wish list item, as they're a bit out my price range, but I just had to share them with you!

5. Leopard scarf: One can never have too much leopard.  That's my motto this fall!  I'm loving the neutral colors of this scarf, and it's another simple way to add the animal print into your wardrobe.

6.  Leopard Sweatshirt: Speaking of leopard......  I'm loving the cut of this sweatshirt!  Not only does the oversized fit look super cozy, but it has side slits, and the back comes longer covering the bum.  This is the perfect top for both jeans and leggings.

7.  Pocket Legging: I've actually been looking at these leggings for a while, and finally purchased them last week.  I love that the pocket and cuffed hem give them a jogger look, but they still fit like a leggings.  I'm happy that I finally pulled the trigger on them because they are so soft, and different from the other leggings that I own.  They come in multiple colors (I got the Dusty Mushroom) and are currently 40% off!

The Best End Of Summer Dress & Labor Day Sales

Happy Labor Day weekend! Although I'm sad to see summer come to an end, I do have to admit that fall is my favorite season, and I love dressing for the transitional weather!  It makes me so happy when it's still warm enough in the daytime to wear my favorite dress or denim shorts, then as the night cools off, I can throw on a cozy sweater and a cute pair of booties.  It's like getting the best of both seasons at once!  

Speaking of transitional weather, this Button Front Dress happens to be the perfect dress for this time of year! Although it is technically a summer dress, the material is on the heavier side (I love that it's not thin and flimsy!) which made it too hot for me to wear in the dead of summer.  Now that the weather has started to cool down, this dress is ideal for these 70 degree days.  The slightly longer sleeves and midi length also make it perfect for entering into the fall.  I can wear it now with my sandals, then as the weather cools off even more, I'll add a pair of booties and a leather jacket for a cute fall look!

Easy Fall Transition

Happy Friday my friends, and happy August.  Can you believe that we're in our last month of summer? Although I'm no where near ready to put away my sundresses and denim cut offs, it's this time of year that I like to start adding warmer items into my wardrobe, that will make the transition into fall easy.  With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale coming to end on Sunday (8/4), now is you last chance to stock up on some great fall pieces.  A cozy cardigan and a new pair of boots are always on the top of my shopping list from the sale, and this year I found two great options!

This Barefoot Dream Cardigan is one that has been included in the sale for a couple of years now, and it's well, a dream!  Not only is it the softest cardigan that I own, but it's one that I know I'll be wearing for years.  It looks great paired with jeans or casual dresses, but I'll also be wearing it with my pj's, as it feels like wearing a blanket.   My other cardigan pick from the sale is this Open Cardigan by BP.  Although sizes are only available in the Brown Cattail, I think the color is gorgeous and perfect for the fall! 

These boots are by far my favorite purchase this year.  Although they weren't initially on my radar when shopping the sale, I was in need of a new tall boot, and they caught my eye while walking by them in the store.  Not only are they comfortable (seriously I can stand in these all day long) but they are the perfect heel height, and I love the pointed toe.  I know the sizes are limited in the color that I am wearing (Praline Suede) but they come in black, and are fully stocked!

Booties also make a great item for transitioning into the fall, and this peep toe pair is one that you can wear now, and far into the fall.  I'm also loving this perforated pair here.

Camisoles are the perfect piece for transitioning into the fall, and I make sure to add a new one to my wardrobe every year.  They are great to wear on a hot day, and when the weather cools off, I love layering them under cardigans, blazers, and leather jackets.  This one by BP. is unfortunately sold out, but I love this lace trim one, and will be getting it in a couple of colors for myself!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Top Picks

BP. Cardigan:  I have this cardigan and love it!  I've actually owned mine for two years, and it's still my number one go-to sweater!  It's available in 5 colors, and as of right now, stocked in all sizes. (Runs pretty true to size, I own the small).

Kendra Scott Ear Crawlers: I'm a big fan of Kendra Scott jewelry, and these ear crawlers are so pretty.  They also come in a rose gold and silver.

Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan: I bought this last week, and let me tell you, I will be living in it this winter!  It is so soft and worth every penny.  (Runs on the large size, so I suggest sizing down. I got the XS/S).

Tory Burch Tote: I have a similar Tory Burch Tote, and love mine.  I love the chain detail on the straps, and the bag is a great size.  It also comes in a black and shell pink.

Halogen Wrap Top: I tried on this top in store, and loved the fit (see here).  It's perfect for the office or a date night.  Although I'm loving the leopard print, it also comes in a polka dot, floral, and eight solid colors.  (Runs true to size.  I wear the small).

Steve Madden Studded Loafer:  I'm so happy these came back in stock, because I missed out on them the first round, and think they are adorable.  I love the studded detailing!  If you're not into the snake print, they come in three solid colors.

BB Dakota Faux Leather Moto Jacket: This jacket is so good! I tried it on in store and loved the fit (see here)!  I think the quality of the faux leather looks nicer than the Blank faux jacket.  I would have taken it home, however I have a very similar jacket that I bought from the brand two years ago.  Although the parchment color is almost sold out, I'm loving this brown color.  (Runs true to size, I wore the small).

Good American Flare Jeans:  You all know that I'm a huge fan of Good American jeans!  I'm loving this flare cut, and am thinking they'll look great with a leather jacket and boots come fall.  (These run on the large side, so I recommend sizing down one).

Sam Edelman Boot:  I bought these, and absolutely love them!  Not only are they very comfortable for a heeled boot, but I love the height and the pointy toe.  They also come in a black and red leather. (These run true to size).

BP Cozy Joggers:  I actually bought these in the shorts version (total impulse buy) and they are so cozy.  I've worn them every night since I've owned them!  I'm thinking I need to get these joggers for when the weather cools off!  (Runs true to size.  I got the small).

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings:  These are my all time favorite leggings.  Not only do they make your legs look amazing, but they are so comfy.  I love that they can be worn casually or dress up, and they wash well!  (I got my normal size, small.  However, many people suggest sizing up one).

Clinique Moisture Surge:  This stuff is amazing for dry skin.  It's the only product that relieved my very dry skin (before finding the moisturizer that I use now) and feels like silk as you apply it.

Kiehl's Creme de Corps: I've been using this lotion since December, and am obsessed. It soothes my dry skin, and feels so creamy.  I keep a bottle by my kitchen sink, and it has helped my hands stay smooth with all the washing!

PMD Facial Cleansing Device: I have not tried this yet, but I've heard many great reviews, and am thinking of purchasing it for myself!  If you have used it, please let me know your thoughts!

BeautyBlender Sponge Set: The quality of sponge that you use does make a difference on how your makeup applies.  BeautyBlenders are the best, and I love using them for foundation and concealer.  They're on the pricey side for a sponge, so now is the time to take advantage of the sale.

Luxie Eye Brush Set: Although I haven't used this brand of brushes myself, I have heard good things, and that the quality is great. They look just like the eye brushes that I use, and are a great price.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Set:  I'm a big fan of Living Proof Products, and perfect hair day is my go-to.  The dry shampoo is one of the best!

NeuLASH Serum:  Again, I haven't tried this lash growth serum myself, but I've heard good things from other bloggers.  You're getting two for the price of one, so now is a great time to try it, and stock up!

Nordstrom Kennebunk Plush Throw: Let me tell you, I picked up this throw earlier this week, and it is SO soft.  In fact, I'm thinking of grabbing it in another color or two, because my twin boys keep fighting over it, and $25 price is an amazing (I feel like it should be a $100 blanket)!  It's available in 12 colors and looks great thrown over a chair, couch, or the edge of your bed.  Plus, it makes a perfect gift, so now is the time to stock up for the holidays.

Barefoot Dreams Throw Blanket: If you really want to treat yourself, and have the budget, then grab this blanket.  It is so soft, and worth every penny!

Nordstrom Marble and Acacia Wood Serving Board: In my opinion, one can never have too many serving boards, and I love the mix of marble and wood. It's perfect for entertaining.

Serene Diffuser: I bought this diffuser during the sale, and am really happy with it!  I have to admit, the size is smaller than what I'm used to, but I actually like that, as it's sleek and doesn't stand out too much.  It has seven different light settings (which my kids love), and is powerful enough to fill my whole bedroom.  

Treasure & Bond Extra Large Cheese Board:  As I said, one can never have too many serving boards, and I love this wooden one.  The larger size is perfect for a cheese or charuterie spread, and I love the unique cut of the handle.

Nordstrom Luggage Set: Okay, this caught my eye because it's pink, but the set also comes in black.  Not only do I love the color, but I need new luggage and love that these are hardshell.  Plus the spinning wheels makes it much easier to walk through an airport.  At $100 off, they're a great price!

Jaipur Pouf: How cute is this pouf?  Plus it comes in six colors!  It's the perfect addition to any room, and if I even had the slightest space for one in my house, I would be purchasing it!

I'm going to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed while browsing the kids sale section, as there weren't many options.  However, I did find some sale worthy items:

North Face Jackets for Boys and Girls: Sales are the best time to get quality outerwear for kids since they grow out of it so fast.  I love the block coloring on the boys jacket, and the girls is reversible, so you can wear the plush fleece on the outside.  It's like two coats in one!

Tucker + Tate Pull On Jeans:  All my boys want to wear these days are sweatpants.  It's a rare occasion that I can get them to wear jeans, but with the drawstring waistband, this pair I could get them to wear.

Tucker + Tate Pajamas: My boys are big time into dinosaurs, so they would love this pair!

Tucker + Tate Moto Leggings: I mean, there isn't much to say about these besides the fact that they're adorable.  Hurry, I heard they sell out fast!

Tucker + Tate Jeggings: I love these denim leggings!  I have bought them for all of my nieces and love how they look on!

Hunter Rain Boot: We all know that Hunter makes great rain boots, and at 35% off these are a great price.  Plus the buckle strap is adorable!

Adidas Sneakers: So cute, and the Velcro straps make them easy for young kids to put on.

Treasure & Bond Bootie: These make me wish that I had a daughter to shop for. So stinking cute!

UGG Lillian Boot: These UGGs are so cute and perfect for keeping those little toes warm in the winter!
