MY PICKS/WISHLIST

Below are the products that I currently use and love, things I am purchasing during the sale, and items on my wishlist.

Glow Sunscreen: This is one that I will be grabbing during the sale!  I have used the facial Supergoop sunscreen in the past and loved it!   I’m all about glowing skin in the summer, and this adds a luminous glow to the face.  I also love that it’s a clean product and free of parabens and harmful reef chemicals.  Plus it contains Hyaluronic Acid, and also protects the skin from blue light rays.

Cinema Secrets: I have used this makeup brush cleanser for years, and it’s still a must-have in my makeup drawer. It’s quick drying, rinse free, and it disinfects. I love using this product in-between my deep brush cleans, as it removes dirt and makeup, conditions, and deodorized in one step!

Olaplex Hair Perfector: Okay, this has been on my list to try for months, and it’s time to take the plunge!  I have heard SO many great things about this hair treatment. It strengthens damaged hair, reduces breakage, while improving the hairs overall look and feel.  I also love that this is a clean product and good for all hair types.

Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops: I have used these in the past, both for body and face, and love the natural glow they add to the skin.  These drops add gradual color, so you won’t feel tan after one use, but add them to your favorite moisturizer and in a few days you’ll have that sun kissed look!

Living Proof Dry Shampoo: The Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo is the best dry shampoo that I have used, and worth every penny.  It absorbs dirt, oil and sweat, is fast absorbing, and smells so good! I usually stock up on this when it’s on sale!

Living Proof Dry Volume Blast: Another favorite hair product of mine is the volume blast. I love using this on the days I don’t wash my hair to add extra volume.

IGK Mistress Hair Balm: This leave in conditioner hair balm is a product that I use daily. After I curl my hair, I rub a little on the ends to de-frizz, and add hydration. It adds the perfect shine to my hair and smells so good!

Dry Bar Interchangeable Styling Iron: I’m on the hunt for a new curling iron, and I love that this one comes with three attachments.  Included is a 1 inch wand, a 1.25 curling iron, and a waver.  I’ve heard great things about Dry Bar products, and believe this would be worth the high price tag.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer: Speaking of high price tags, the Dyson hair dryer is one that has been on my wishlist for months, but I haven’t been able to take the plunge.  I’ve heard from many people that it is worth every penny, and during a sale would be the time to invest, but for now, it will remain on my wishlist!

Verb Shampoo and Conditioner:  For someone with dry hair, I love this Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner.  I’ve been using it for two years now, and love how soft it leaves my hair.

T.L.C.Sukari Babyfacial: This Drunk Elephant AHA and BHA mask is on my wishlist.   Although I have never used Drunk Elephant products before, I have heard great things about them, and love the fact that it’s a clean company. This mask is suppose to help with dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, while improving the skins texture and brightness.  Yes please!

GlamGlow ThirstyMud: This mask is one the I use regularly, and is a must-have during the winter months.  I have dry skin all year long, but on those days when it feels extra day, I seep with this mask on. It helps to alleviate any tightness and dry patches on my skin, and the cooling sensation gives my skin instant relief.

St. Tropez X Ashley Graham Self Tanner:   This is another product that I will be purchasing during the sale. I am in desperate need of a little bronzing, and have heard several great reviews on this self tanner. I like that it comes with a tanning mitt, and is suppose to be streak-free. I will let you know!!

Those are my Sephora picks.   If you’re shopping the sale, I’d love to know what you’re getting!  Also, if you have any products suggestions, leave them in the comments.

5 Tips For Applying Makeup To Hooded Eyes

Hooded eyes makeup

What are hooded eyes?
Are you like me and blessed with hooded eyes? If you’re unsure, take a close look in the mirror. Can you see your eyelid with your eyes open? If you answered no, then you probably have hooded eyes. Eyes are considered hooded when skin hangs down over the crease, making the eyes appear smaller. When hooded eyes are open, the eyelid isn’t generally visible as it retracts into the crease. Because of this, many people with hooded eyes often have a droopy eye look, and trouble applying makeup.

However, with the right makeup placement, you can trick the eye into looking large and lifted, disguising the hood. If you’re not sure how to do this, don’t worry!! Read on as I’m showing you how to do that with 5 fool-proof makeup application tips!

Hooded Eyes

Tip 1: Apply eyeshadow slightly above the crease with eyes open.

Tips For Hooded Eyes

If you apply the shadow directly in the crease, it will end up hidden in the fold when the eyes are open. Applying the color above the crease will allow the shadow to been seen (which is what we want) with open eyes, plus it gives the appearance of a faux crease, making the eyes look lifted.

Applying shadow with the eyes open will direct you where to place the color. I did this in the above photo, at the spot where my lid hits my brow bone. You can see that by applying the color in this spot (and not in my crease) instantly lifts the eye.

Tip 2: When you apply a contour color, blend upwards and outwards.

Hooded Eye Makeup Tips

Adding a contour, or deeper color to the eye can give you a bold or smoky look, and even open up the eyes. However, this color can drag down a hooded eye if it’s not placed in the right position. If the color is blended downwards, or comes out past the edge of the eye, it will make the eye look droopy. You can avoid this by blending the color in an upward motion to towards the brow bone. This will give the eye a lifted look.

Tip 3: Use a lighter shadow color on the eyelid.

Hooded Eyes Makeup Tips

When we highlight and contour the face, we use lighter colors to make an area of the face stand out, and darker colors to conceal or slim an area.  The same rule applies to the eyes. Since people with hooded eyes have smaller eyelids, or the fact that their lid often gets hidden, it’s best to use a light color to make the lid stand out. Shimmer colors are also great to use on the lid as they reflect light, making the eyelid look larger.

On an opposite note, try not to use too much of a highlight or shimmer color on the brow bone. People with hooded eyes already have protruding brow bones, and a shimmer can make the hooded part look larger and puffy. Keep the highlight color thin and close to the eyebrow.

Tip 4: Keep your eyeliner thin.

Hooded Eyes Makeup Tips

Since people with hooded eyes already have limited lid space, you don’t want to take up that lid real-estate with eyeliner. A thick liner will only make the eyelid look smaller.  When wearing eyeliner, keep the product as close to the lash line as possible, and don’t fully line the eyes as this will only make them look smaller.

Tip 5: Don’t skimp on mascara!

Hooded Eyes Makeup Tips

Longer lashes open up the eyes, making them appear larger. They also draw the eyes up, which is what we want with hooded eyes. Finding a great lengthening mascara is key, and I highly suggest the VolumeIntense Mascara by SeneGence. It lengthens, conditions, and doesn’t smudge or flake off which is another plus for hooded eyes.

I hope you found these tips helpful! If you have any questions, ask me in the comments below.

Rachael’s Radar: Target Spring Dress Sale

Floral Crochet Sweater

Happy Friday! Did anyone else have warmer weather where you live this week? It got up to almost 50 degrees here in Boston, and I wasn’t mad about it! Although that’s not quite warm enough to pull out the spring dresses, it didn’t stop me from shopping for some!  Target is currently having 20% off dresses for circle members (free to participate), and I’m loving their selections.  I’ve rounded up my top dress picks below, all are under $30.

However, since it is still is winter here, sweaters are what I’m wearing most days, including this floral cardigan. I love how the lighters colors and florals give it a spring feel, yet the chunky knit is warm and cozy. It’s perfect for now, and throw over a dress when it warms up a touch!

Rachael’s Radar: Spring Finds To Wear Now

*This Post contains affiliate links.
Target Puff Shoulder Sweatshirt

Is anyone else dreaming of a tropical vacation, or perhaps just some warmer weather?  As much as I enjoy a good snow storm at the beginning of the year, by mid a February I’m always ready for spring to arrive. Unfortunately, living in New England I still have a while to go before I can pull out my bathing suits and sandals.  So instead, I’ll add a little spring into my wardrobe by lightening up my color palette and adding happy shades of mint, pinks, and yellows. Which brings me to the sweatshirt I’m wearing in the photo above. I recently found this puff shoulder beauty at Target and love how it cheers up my winter wardrobe. Below, I rounded up some Nordstrom sale picks, all of which you can wear now and far into the spring, and if you do have a tropical vacation planned, I rounded up some vacations style picks, all Target finds and under $35.
